There are two types of models in the world. The type of model who you have to cajole into taking chances, or doing something different – and Dame Lebeau, who digs through my toy bag to see what new things I have.

In this case, she found a ball gag.

It’s always a pleasure to work with someone who pushes me to create artwork without a net. She turns in another stellar performance, and I got a great set… without any cajoling.

This was a shoot that was basically set-up to get one photo for an art show, and we continued to shoot so that we’d have more to offer the fans here on Toxic Goddess.

I had this idea to create a human table some time ago and, as usual, the logistics of making this shoot happen kept me from actually doing it for a long time. It’s not easy to get this many Goddesses in one place! The “Dominatrix” and the individuals who created the table, changed many times before we made this happen.

Special thanks go to Eclipse and Selkie, not only for enduring what was a physically uncomfortable position, but doing so and actually performing in a somewhat glamour-free shoot (after all Dame Lebeau is the one who gets to shine here). They put up with a lot of discomfort for this shoot, so when you talk to them tell them how cool they are!

Dame Lebeau had this awesome military hat and a fantastic wig that we used to transform her into the uber-domme for this shoot. She also played the regal dominatrix exceptionally well. Her contribution helped me pull off this idea even better than I envisioned.

Thanks also to Robert for helping me set up the table and lighting. This was a team effort all around.

You wouldn’t believe how spectacular that flower looked after sitting in our studio window for several months!

This is one of those sets that you have no idea how much work goes into before you ever see the results. This began as a concept between two rope bondage masters (David M. and Master Chewy), who we brought in to show their art versus our own.

While the concept on the bondage was fairly simple, the time and execution was not. The two bondage masters, along with at least two assistants tied on Dame Lebeau for what must have been north of an hour, maybe twice that. Meanwhile, Dame Lebeau was stuck in one position… then she had to pose for these shots! She never complained, but then again, she likes being tied up.

A very simple set, but I think very powerful. Dame Lebeau brought her beautiful and classic presence to the set and elevated the concept… as per usual. I love how these came out.

NOLA is a tribute to classic photography of the early 20th century; particularly the works of E.J. Bellocq. He did a series that has been called the “Storyville Portraits” which was photos of prostitutes in the red light district of New Orleans. While, stylistically speaking, the shoot is certainly different in tonal quality, Dame Lebeau and I set out to do a shoot that pays homage to his work, particularly those portraits.

We shot this in New Orleans at an apartment in the French Quarter. It was really nice to create a body of work in the city where the inspiration was shot. Dame Lebeau is in love with that city and I must say that if I didn’t have several responsibilities keeping me where I live, I might consider uprooting and going to live there. The place is wonderful.

This set is almost exactly how it was shot. I shot it in a sepia tone and chose to hand hold a low light shoot to achieve a more Pictorialist effect. I really love work from that time and enjoyed the challenge of staying with what I shot. I messed around with the RAW files some but at the end of it all felt that the “as shot” jpegs had a special something about them. What we caught there seemed to be more in the spirit of what we aimed to achieve. This has probably been one of my favorite sets in the last few months. Of course Dame Lebeau was amazing and really the set probably wouldn’t have worked near as well without her. So, here’s to her.

Float is a nice little bonus update. I’ve beeen fortunate to know Dame Lebeau for many years. Before she decided to work with Toxic Goddess we would work together for different ideas for art shows and such. Sometimes we would just get together and shoot for “art’s sake.” This set is part of that exercise in creativity. There’s no major theme at work here. It’s simply about beauty. I had a rough idea about what I wanted and we just kind of went with it. Also I was trying out some new equipment as well.

In the end we got some very nice shots. I figure in the future I’ll post some shoots like this from waaayyyy back. There are some really strong images in some of these sets and, unless you happened to see them at the gallery where one might have appeared, it will be new to you. So enjoy.

“Lipstick” is one of those shoots where a strange idea comes into being very unexpectedly. Dame Lebeau and I were shooting at a location and we had already done one shoot. I had the lighting set-up in my head but had no other plans about the shoot. Dame Lebeau had brought some new stockings and somehow lipstick became the final prop.

It’s always fun to collaborate. You get interesting stuff and a simple, dark, glamour shoot gets more interesting. Kudos to Dame Lebeau for jumping into a strange arena and more so because the lipstick wasn’t easy to remove.

Toxic Goddess Celebrates Three Creators Who Have Work in Dirty Show 11

February 11th, 2010 | By Dirk Hooper

DETROIT, MICHIGAN, February 9, 2010 – Toxic Goddess Dame Lebeau, and Toxic Goddess photographers Robert Henry and Dirk Hooper, all three have work that has been accepted into the internationally renowned erotic art exhibition Dirty Show 11, starting this weekend.  This is the first time that Toxic Goddess has had such a strong presence in a major art show.

Toxic Goddess founder and photographer Dirk Hooper said, “When we created Toxic Goddess Robert and I wanted more than a place to feature our own photography, we wanted to start a movement that was a catalyst for art, music and the community.  All three of us getting accepted in the Dirty Show is a milestone in that effort.” Hooper’s piece “Zing” is a halftone print on canvas that features Toxic Goddess model Selkie. Yet another set that we did at the Conservatory in Oklahoma City.

The background guided the concept behind this shoot. It looked like a window in New Orleans to me. I lit it with that intense yellow and orange light to suggest that the sun was coming up in the morning (I never get too far away from my filmmaking roots). I coupled that with a soft light to the front.

Selkie and Dame Lebeau had just met each other but you’d never know it from these photos, which demonstrates their professionalism. Both models had an extensive dance background that unified them and I took full advantage of. This set succeeds on such a high level because of the dance background they share.

Perfect models, perfect location, perfect lighting make for very good photos. One photo from this particular set was part of the IAO Gallery’s 2008 Biting the Apple Show and it sold too!

I can imagine that both Lebeau and Selkie are going to be miffed that this set didn’t appear AROUND Mardi Gras, but as the cajuns say… c’est la vie.

- Dirk Hooper

Personally, I loved working with Selkie. This was the first time I had the chance to model with a live person. lol…and Selkie is just so gorgeous I couldn’t help but to feel nervous around her.

It gets pretty warm under those modeling lights and being that close to the lovely TG Selkie…I have to admit I did sweat…well, just a little.

- Toxic Goddess Dame Lebeau

This shoot was a lot of fun (you can never go wrong with the magnificent Dame LeBeau) and beautifully artistic. I am a huge fan of hers so it was an honor to work with her.

It gave me something to brag about when I got home! ;-) If you aren’t a fan of hers, too… well, just have a look. You will be.

This one is rated as one of my favorite shoots.

This is a pure art shoot. A study of anatomy and light.

I asked Lebeau to give me anything but “standard” poses, and she really delivered. What I got was this beautiful lyrical movement through that eerie green light.

The result reminds me, at times, of the mixed media work of Bill Sienkiewicz, and other times of the thick paintings of Frank Frazetta. This set contains image after image that I could (and will) send off to art shows.

The genesis of this set is very simple, and it demonstrates that you too can affect what we do here. One of Dame Lebeau’s fans sent her a very cool corset set. She gets a cool corset, I get something new to shoot her in, and the fan gets a CD of these images, a signed 8×10 photo (my 8×10 photos run about $75 right now… not too sure how much a signed version is worth), and the fan gets to dress his favorite Goddess in something he picked out.

Everyone wins!

Another note about this shoot. I did another set in this exact location about four years ago. This set is almost infinitely better. That means two things:

#1 – I’m a better photographer than I was four years ago.

#2 – The models I work with are a hell of a lot better!

Speaking of Dame Lebeau, she certainly smolders in that corset… that’s why I named it Femme Fatale!
