“White Ph” is simply a beauty shoot. On a recent trip to Vegas we shot in a hotel/casino. The bed was amazingly white and so I took advantage of that and simply pushed the light to give us a very white set.

I like extremes when it comes to lighting. Whether it’s low or high in tonal value, I like to make things “pop” a little. Some shoots lend themselves to one or the other and this was one of them. Aries was amazing here, in that this was the middle shoot of three shoots that we did. She worked effortlessly and quickly, in a fashion that was truly professional.

It’s nice when things come together so well.

Aries came up with this outfit. She’s really excellent about getting together different looks to benefit from my different lighting styles. The idea is relatively simple but effective in style and execution. I do wish that I had been able to shoot just a little bit longer but, was out of memory cards by the end of the shoot. However, I’m quite happy with the results and am happy to run this shoot.

This shoot was the second one that I Aries and I did that night. Both shoots were planned as B&W shoots to work within the theme of “Eros in Time” for the Biting the Apple.

I was quite happy with these pictures. Aries was one of my early models back when I shot mostly in B&W film. She’s always loved B&W and sometimes will jokingly lament the fact that we shoot mostly color nowadays. So, I know that she was quite happy getting to play in that arena again.

The first shoot should pop up someday in the future. It was a different shoot but still kind of had the same “feel.” So I’m pretty sure we won’t run it for awhile. Also it turned out pretty nicely in color so, I may not run it as a B&W. Maybe I’ll put a few examples up in the forum and let you guys decide.

A writer friend of mine once referred to a mass of butterflies flying together as “organized chaos.” That’s sort of how I feel about this shoot, Sanitarium. The shoot was partially inspired by the character Pod from Dan Schaffer’s comic Dogwitch. Aries and I had done a couple of shoots where she played Violet Grimm the Dogwitch for Dan’s Spitting Nails contest. We got some great pics and each won a piece of original art for our efforts. Neat.

This shoot was intended to to be a crazy, psychedlic, bizarre trip. Jen’s make-up was an excellent exercise that let her do something other than typical glamour/beauty. I asked her to shake things up a bit and she obliged. Aries’ attitude was really great. At times vulnerable, other times sexy and yet other times maniacal, she delivered so much stuff that I had to make some harsh cuts and still had a ton of pics. For me it was tough to pare it down because the variety became representative of what I wanted the shoot to be about: conflictive insanity.

So that’s why there are so many pics (and the appearance of nets, umbrellas and green lights). Enjoy.

This was a shoot that Aries set up in an abandoned church. Apparently, the church had burned several decades ago and this shell was what remained. Nature had done it’s best to reclaim this site and it wasn’t easy to reach, but this was a wonderful backdrop!

We travelled about two hours along with Jennifer, Rob and a couple of friends to get to this site. It was a lot of fun and I’d love to pack up and do this sort of thing more often. I certainly had a great time.

“Desire” is one of my recent favorite shoots. The idea was to create a beauty shoot with a luminescent quality. The day started with no real planning just a certainity that we were going to shoot. I had an idea about how I wanted to light it and Aries’ make-up and outfit lent themselves well to what I was trying to do.

In hindsight, I am reminded a little of My Chemical Romance’s video for Helena but, that might just be me.
