Well, if you’re looking for glamour, you should check out last week’s shoot. This is one of the most raw sets I’ve done and I give big kudos to Aello for having the guts and the chops to pull this off.

The genesis of this set came about after Robert did a shoot with Aello where she was painted like a Greek statue, which we ran last year. We were trying to get in as many shoots as possible and I thought we could get an entirely different shoot by putting some tribal paint over the white paint. As it turned out we wrapped after the statue shoot, but I logged the idea for later.

Of course, this turned out better because we got to apply the white paint more uneven and let it look more like war paint which just really worked out well here. I applied the black paint myself.

I told Aello I really wanted her to dig down deep, give me a seething hatred, and most of all not to pose like a model. I wanted something PRIMAL and that’s exactly what she gave me… in spades!

This shoot was a lot of fun for me. I’m a very wild, elemental soul and I love chunking “nice” out the window and doing something darker and harder from time to time. This shoot allowed me to do just that. I didn’t have to worry about anything but being wild and fierce.

I also like getting painted from head to toe for a shoot. It takes a while but the effect is always interesting, and it always feels like I should be grabbing a battle axe and running through the forest screaming wildly.

I’d also like to say that yes… that is my real eye color!

This shoot was meant to be moody and atmospheric. The cool tone really kinda made this look like a vampire in your closet shoot.

Aello’s skin and look really leant to this idea and it reminded me of the vampire paintings by John Bolton. If you don’t know who he is, do an online search. His paintings are beautiful, dark and erotic. So, while I didn’t initially set out to do a shoot in his style it’s kind of nice. However, I do wish that maybe I had actually done a vampire shoot with fangs and stuff. Maybe someday I’ll revisit this again.

This set was shot over two years ago at a BDSM dungeon. Who does a Christmas shoot at a dungeon? I guess we do… that’s just the way we roll!

I certainly like the incongruous setting versus the Christmas theme. Aello definitely is hot, doing a bit of the old fashioned cheesecake, which is somewhat atypical.

In case you don’t believe it was in a dungeon, you can see a riding crop stuffed under the couch in a couple of shots. Merry Christmas!

The original photo I had in my head was the shots between the legs that occurs in the middle of the set. However, with these two Goddesses all I had to do was give them the concept and let them work their magic.

This shoot is unique because Dark Mistress is playing the submissive role; something she was anxious to try. Aello often plays the Domme, but she’s played the sub a few times as well. (Talk to them in the Forum to find out which role they prefer.)

The lighting is very complex and unique in this set and I love the surreal quality. No matter how you measure this shoot it was an unqualified success. A shot from this set was featured in the “Dirty Show” in Detroit and is also a part of the Kinsey Institute’s permanent collection at Indiana University.

This shoot came about in anticipation of the Individual Arist’s of Oklahoma (IAO) annual erotic art show, Biting the Apple. The show had the theme of Eros in Time so, I knew that I wanted to submit work that had a historical angle.

I’ve had several ideas for a “staute” type shoot for years (and hopefully will do a couple more of them in the years to come) and Aello brought up the idea to do this shoot independently. So we made a day of it with Dirk and I each doing two shoots, and this one being the last (for obvious reasons).

Aello really brought her A-game on this one, particularly covering herself from head to toe in body paint and baby powder to achieve the look of an animated statue. I aimed to light this like a Classical antiquity piece in a museum and Aello worked through a variety of poses that took advantage of that. It’s really great when an idea culminates with several individuals working together like this one.

It was tough to pick one piece to represent this shoot (heck I trimmed over forty images for one reason or another for this set and that was hard enough). The IAO accepted my submission from this shoot to be included in the BTA. For the curious among you who weren’t able to attend it was #116.

It’s amazing that I don’t have more shoots like Nightwatch given my own interest in the vampire subculture. The basic idea behind this shoot was that the viewer is in one of those techno clubs like in Blade or Underworld and you just happened to stumble on this scene while going to the bathroom. So, I want you to feel like a voyeur here and the models play with that concept a bit.

There’s a lot that I like about this shoot, including the set-up and the lighting. Mostly what I like about this shoot is how the models embraced their roles so well. Aello makes a fantastic vampire and Ambrosia has absolutely priceless expressions throughout. At times it looks like Ambrosia is in charge, which is why I love the Toxic Goddess models in general and Ambrosia’s ability to be so expressive, in particular.

While I love this shoot, I’d like to do a couple of things different the next time around. I’d like to have better (longer and more stable) fangs next time and there’s never any blood or a puncture wound, which makes this shoot a bit of a prick tease…

Probably one of the most fun shoots I’ve ever done. We were at sci-fi convention late at night and after a couple of shoots we were still not tired so we just found someplace to shoot, put some outfits on the models and started firing away.

We ended up in a stairwell and had a couple of lookouts watch for late night stragglers. We were trying to stay quiet to not attract security, and that, combined with fatigue and Dark Mistresses’ pigtails, gave me an uncontrollable case of the giggles. Then the models started laughing, and you can see the results.

This shoot was so much fun and the guys just let us have a great time. They really caught us in playful moods. Dirk couldn’t stop laughing at my ponytails. Every time I would move my head he would giggle and his head would turn bright red. This made us laugh even more.

We did this at the Electric Chair Gallery with the kind permission of Shilo. I love the lighting scheme here; it was designed to create tension through complementary colors.

This is the very shoot I did with Toxic Goddess Aello. You’d never know it by the quality of the shoot! I was instantly struck with Aello’s beauty, but her almost effortless ability to give me what I needed blew me away. I knew I was working with a new favorite model.
