“These Boots” is one of the first times that I had the pleasure of working with Selkie. The shoot is an old one that has just been passed over for awhile. I’m glad that it has finally seen the light of day. Selkie really loved her boots and wanted to do a shoot a with them. So I created a pretty straight glamour set and we shot away. I think the set is fun and pretty hot at times. Selkie somehow manages to pull that off in just about every shoot she does.

As a quick aside pictures 59 and 60 in the set are pretty stunning in my opinion. The pure statuesque beauty there really stands out. Those shots remind me of a short story I read by Neil Gaiman where a guy (over the course of many years) is pursuing this woman who doesn’t seem to age and appears every so often in men’s magazines, sometimes under a diffeent name but it’s the same girl… and she’s always nineteen. He eventually becomes a photographer and gets to photograph her and then she disappears. He reflects that she’s “in all places, all times, sliding through our fantasies, a girl forever.” When I look at those two photos it’s easy to see her modeling for a sculptor in ancient Greece, or a painting in 18th century France, and being photographed today. Timeless.

For those interested the short story is called “Looking for the Girl”
